EP Artwork: Bob Hope & Margaret Whiting/Ain't We Got Fun

As a youngster, my earliest recollection of Bob Hope's crooning was his version of Buttons and Bows in the film comedy, The Paleface. It was written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1948.

This artwork is for the engaging duet he recorded with Margaret Whiting and Ain't We Got Fun was co-written by Margaret's father, Richard A Whiting. And of course, it fits right in with our "Ain't" oriented theme this week.

The session took place at Capitol Melrose Studios on November 3rd, 1949 with Billy May and His Orchestra. It's a shame that the label didn't see fit to credit Whiting or May on the cover.

The theme of this week's show was inspired by the title of this fantastic album by Sammy Davis Jr with Buddy Rich and His Big Band.

It was recorded at the famous Sands Hotel in Las Vegas in the wee small hours of the morning so that Sammy could invite fellow entertainers and friends to join him for what essentially is the most exciting after show party ever!
