LP Artwork: Carmen McRae Live at Sugar Hill, San Francisco

The song, Make Someone Happy, inspired the theme of this week's program. And the selected version is Carmen McRae's recording from her 1963 in-concert performance at Sugar Hill: Home of the Blues; a club in San Francisco opened a couple of years earlier by singer Barbara Dane.

She's accompanied by Norman Simmons (p), Victor Sproles (b) and Stu Martin (d).

It's a superb album with outstanding versions of Let There Be Love, It Never Entered My Mind, This Is All I Ask, I Left My Heart In San Francisco and, of course, Make Someone Happy.
